ORDER:
The Additional Director of Ex-Servicemen's Welfare has stated that the Government of India are issuing orders from time to time equating service trades in Defence with the Civil Trades. Before issuing such orders, concerned Ministries call for the syllabus covered for various Trades for which training is imparted by the Army/Navy/Air force and only after satisfying the syllabus and the standard of training imparted to the service personnel and after getting the clearance from the Director of Personnel and Training in the Human Resources Department, such equivalence is accepted by the Government of India and orders issued to that effect. Whenever the matter is taken up with the Government of Tamil Nadu for declaring the trade equivalence as accepted by the Government of India, the Government of Tamil Nadu again call for the syllabus of the Course or Trade. Great difficulties and delay are experienced in getting the syllabus and training programmes from the Defence Service Institutions. Hence, the Additional Director of Ex-Servicemen's Welfare has requested the Government to issue necessary order for automatic acceptance of equivalence of Military Trade to Civil Trade published by Government of India.
2. The request of Additonal director of Ex-Servicemen's Welfare was placed before the Committee constituted for the purpose in G.O.Ms.No.441, Personnel and Administrative Reforms (R) Department, dated 20.12.93, under the Chairmanship of the Chairman, Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission, for its recommendation.
3. The Committee in its meeting held on 21.8.98 has resolved to accept the request of the Additional Director of Ex-Servicemen's Welfare, Chennai.
4. The Government after careful examination have decided to accept the recommendation of the Committee and accordingly, direct for the automatic acceptance of equivalence of various Military Trades with that of Civil Trades as published by the Government of India and recognise the Course of Trade for the purpose of employment in the Public Services in this State.
