ORDER:

Due to the floods during the monsoon in 2005, roads and drains in local bodies have been badly affected.  Important roads need to be improved and proper drainage facilities provided.  The financial position of certain Municipalities does not permit them to take up the required works and that the CMA has sent a proposal for improving roads and drains for considering under Part II scheme for the year 2006-2007 for grant.

2. The Government after careful examination accept the proposal and sanctions a sum of Rs.1331.50 lakhs (Rupees one thousand three hundred thirty one lakhs and fifty thousand only) as one time grant for the improvement of BT Roads and construction of Storm Water Drain in 34 Municipalities covering 99.55 Kms. as mentioned in the Annexure to this order.          

3. The amount sanctioned in Para 2 above shall be debited to the following Head of Account:

“2217 – Urban Development – 05-Other Urban Development Schemes – 192 -    Assistance to Municipalities / Municipal Councils – Schemes in the Tenth Five       Year Plan – II State Plan – JC-Grants to Municipalities for development of roads under Road Development Project–09-Grants-in-  Aid-03 Grants for specific schemes”. (2217-05-192-JC-0931)

4. The Commissioner of Municipal Administration is authorized to release the amount sanctioned in para 2 above in 3 instalments. 15% as startup advance may be released now.  The balance 85% may be released in 2nd and 3rd installments based on the project approval by the Municipalities and 50% completion of works respectively and send the progress report to Government.

5. This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department vide its U.O.No.54529/Fin.(MAWS)/06, Dated: 7.9.2006
