ORDER:

During 1997, an assurance was given in the Legislative Assembly for the construction of New Bridge across Polar River in Vaniyambadi Town. This bridge was constructed more than 100 years ago. Hence it is necessary to construct the bridge and the Municipal Council has also resolved to construct the bridge at an estimated cost of Rs.85.00 lakhs, with loan financing, and to execute the work through Highways Department. As the financial condition of the Municipality is not sufficiently strong to enable it to take a large loan, the Commissioner of Municipal Administration has sent a proposal requesting the Government to sanction a sum of Rs.85.00 lakhs as direct grant to meet the expenditure.

2. The Government, after careful examination accept the proposal of the Commissioner of Municipal Administration and accord Administrative Sanction for a sum of Rs.85.00 (Rupees Eighty Five lakhs only) as one time grant for constructing a New Bridge across Palar River in Vaniyambadi Municipality with the condition that the work has to be executed by the Highways Department.

3. The amount sanctioned in Para 2 above shall be debited to the following Head of Account:

“ 2217 -Urban Development -05 -Other Urban Development Schemes -191 -Assistance to Municipal Corporations -Schemes in the Tenth Five Year Plan -II state P1an -JV -Construction of Bridge  across river Palar River in Vaniyambadi -09. Grants in Aid -02 – Grants for Capital Expenditure" (2217-05-191-JV-0926).

4. The Commissioner of Municipal Administration shall send specific proposals for sanction and release of funds based on the progress of work. The initial instalment will be sanctioned on receipt of specific proposals from the Commissioner of Municipal Administration.  The Commissioner of Municipal Administration is also requested to see that the work is executed by Highways Department and the progress report is sent to Government.

5. This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department vide its U.O. No.52249 / Fin.MAWS / 06, Dated:30.8.06.
