ORDER:

The Commissioner of Municipal Administration in his letter read above has stated that now a days, e-governance is being implemented in all the Urban Local Bodies, and It requires modern facilities to accommodate computers and its peripherals. Certain Urban Local Bodies do not have sufficient office buildings Due to paucity of funds the Urban Local Bodies are unable to meet the cost for construction of new building for its office. It is proposed to construct new office buildings for the 9 Urban Local Bodies. He has therefore requested the Government to sanction an amount of Rs.275 lakhs under Part-II Scheme for the year 2007-2008 for the construction of office buildings to the 9 Municipalities. .

2. The State Planning Commission has approved and recommended this proposal to the Government. The Standing Finance Committee has also approved the above proposal under Part-II Scheme for the year 2007-2008.

3. The Government after careful examination of the above proposal accord sanction for a sum of Rs.275.00 lakhs (Rupees Two hundred and seventy five lakhs only) towards the work of Construction of office Buildings for 9 Municipalities under Part-II Scheme for the year 2007-2008, with the contribution of municipalities for a sum of Rs. 35.80 lakhs as detailed in the annexure to this order.

4. The amount sanctioned in para 3 above shall be debited to the following Head of Account:-

2217 – Urban Development – 05- Other Urban Development Schemes –192 – Assistance to Municipalities / Municipal Councils – JA – Assistance to Municipalities for Infrastructure Development - 09 Grants-in-Aid 02 - Grants for Capital Expenditure (DPC 2217 05 192 JA 0926)

5. The Commissioner of Municipal Administration is authorized to draw the amount sanctioned in paragraph 3 above in 2 equal instalments and disburse the first instalment now and the second instalment on completion of 50% of the works to the 9 Municipalities. The Commissioner of Municipal Administration is also requested to ensure that the work of construction of office buildings for 9 Municipalities is completed with in the financial year 2007-2008 and to send quarterly progress reports to Government.

6. This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department vide its U.O. No.26499/MA&WS/07, dated 25.4.2007.
