Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department – Part II Schemes 2007-2008 – Conversion of Earthen Road into BT Roads in ULBs.- Sanction of Rs.1000.00 lakhs (Rupees One Thousand lakhs only) as grant – Orders – Issued.

The Hon’ble Minister for Rural and Local Administration had announced on the floor of Assembly that the narrow earthen lane and wide earthen Road of 2000 K.Ms. in Municipalities and Municipal Corporations will be converted as cement road and B.T. Road respectively in the next four years.

2. The Commissioner of Municipal Administration has sent proposal for conversion of Earthen Road into BT Roads in ULBs for an amount of Rs.1000.00 lakhs under Part II scheme for the year 2007-2008.

3. The Government, after careful examination, accept the proposal and sanction a sum of Rs.1000.00 lakhs (Rupees One thousand lakhs only) as one time grant for the Conversion of 73.268 KM Earthen Road into BT Roads in ULBs as mentioned in the Annexure to this order.

4. The amount sanctioned in para 3 above shall be debited to the following Head of Account:-

"2217 – Urban Development – 05- Other Urban Development Schemes- 191 – Assistance to Municipal Corporations– JX- Conversion of Earthen Roads in Municipal Corporations into black topped roads-09 – Grants in-aid-02-Grants for Capital Expenditure" (DPC 2217 05 191 JX 0922) Rs.180.00 lakhs

"2217 – Urban Development – 05- Other Urban Development Schemes- 192 – Assistance to Municipalities / Municipal Councils – JG - Conversion of Earthen Roads in Municipalities into black topped roads-09 – Grants-in-aid-02-Grants for Capital Expenditure" (DPC 2217 05 192 JG 0924) Rs.820.00 lakhs

5. The Commissioner of Municipal Administration is authorized to draw and release the amount sanctioned in para 3 above in 3 instalments; ie. 15% as startup advance may be released now. The balance 85% may be released in 2^nd and 3^rd instalments based on the project approval by the Municipalities/ Municipal Councils and 50% on completion of works respectively. The Commissioner of Municipal Administration is also requested to send the progress report to Government.

6.This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department vide its U.O. No.24438/MAWS /07, dated 18.4.2007.
