ABSTRACT National Slum Development Programme - Release of funds for the year 2003-2004 - Orders - Issued. MUNICIPAL ADMINISTRATION & WATER SUPPLY (MA-II) DEPARTMENT
G.O. Ms. No.103 Dated : 27.2.2004 Read : From the Commissioner of Municipal Administration,Lr.Roc.No.38724/2003/WEP1, Dated:08.10.2003 and 20.02.2004. ORDER: National Slum Development Programme a Centrally Sponsored Programme is being implemented in this State from 1996-1997. The funds under this programme are utilised to improve the basic infrastructure facilities viz., Water Supply, drainage, public toilets, street lights and road in the slums of Urban Local Bodies. 2. A sum of Rs.27.11 crores (Central Assistance) is provided in the Budget Estimate 2003-2004 for National Slum Development Programme. As per the guidelines for National Slum Development Programme, 10% of the Central assistance should be set apart for shelter upgradation. 3. The National Slum Development Programme hitherto has been implemented in all ULBs namely Municipalities, Corporations including Chennai and Town Panchayats of the State on the following pattern:

National Slum Development Programme - Rs.2439.90 lakhs For Shelter Upgradation in all ULBs - Rs. 271.10 lakhs ---------------------------- Total amount to be released - Rs.2711.00 lakhs ---------------------------- The Commissioner of Municipal Administration has proposed that based on the usual pattern the details of the slums to be covered under the National Slum Development Programme during 2003-2004 is as follows:

The Commissioner of Municipal Administration has requested to release Rs.27.11 crores for implementation of NSDP in all Corporations, Municipalities and Town Panchayats of Tamil Nadu covering 1456 slums for the year 2003-2004. 5. The Government accord sanction for the release of Rs.19.02 crores (Rupees Nineteen crores and two lakhs only) for incurring the expenditure for implementation of the National Slum Development Programme in the Urban Local Bodies detailed in the 'Annexure' to this G.O. The Commissioner of Municipal Administration is authorised to draw the funds sanctioned above and disburse it to Municipalities/Municipal Corporations and Director of Town Panchayats. The Commissioner of Municipal Administration is requested to send proposal as soon as Government of India sanctions further release towards National Slum Development Programme. The Government also direct that the procedure prescribed for implementation of National Slum Development Programme should be followed without fail. 6. The expenditure sanctioned in para 5 above shall be debited to 2217 - Urban Development - 04 Slum Area Improvement - 192 - Assistance to Municipalities/Municipal Councils - Scheme in the Tenth Five Year Plan II.State Plan JA - Slum Improvement Programme in Urban Local Bodies - 09 - Grants -in-Aid 02 Grants for capital expenditure - D.P.Code 6.2217 04192 JA 0927. 7. This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department vide its U.O.No.59/SS(LK)/(MA&WS)/2004, dated:25.2.2004. (BY ORDER OF THE GOVERNOR) /Sd/ L.N.VIJAYARAGHAVAN, SECRETARY TO GOVERNMENT.
