ORDER:

In the Government Order first read above, the Government have ordered that admission of students for 3 years and five years B.L. degree courses including B.A.B.L.(Hons.) degree course in the Law Colleges in Tamil Nadu based on a Common Entrance Test be abolished from the academic year 2005-06 and prescribed the procedure for admission to the above Law Courses. Subsequently, the position prevailing prior to the orders issued in the G.O. first read above was restored.

2. The Director of Legal Studies in his letter second read above has recommended that admission to Law degree courses from the academic year 2007-08 may be made following the  orders issued in the said G.O.

3. The Government after careful consideration of the recommendation of the Director of Legal Studies, hereby orders that –

(i)  from the academic year 2007-2008 admission to 3 years and 5 years B.L. Degree courses including B.A.,B.L. (Hons.) Degree Course be made only on the basis of the marks obtained in the qualifying examinations and following the rule of reservation of the State;

(ii) for 5 year B.L. degree course including B.A.B.L. (Hons.) degree course, the percentage of marks obtained by the candidates in the Plus Two examinations in aggregate of all the subjects, excluding languages, may be taken into account.  The marks obtained by the students in the Plus Two examinations in the first attempt alone may be taken into account and the marks obtained by them in the improvement examinations need not be taken into account;

(iii) for 3 year B.L. degree course, the percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in aggregate of all the subjects in the qualifying degree examination, excluding languages, may be taken into account.  In case where the language alone is the subject to qualifying examination, the percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in the said examination may be taken into account;

(iv) in the event of "tie" in regard to the marks obtained by the students for admission to the Law courses, the following order of priority may be followed to determine the rank of the candidates:-

a) date of birth (elder to be given preference);

b) by lot;

(v) the Tamil Nadu Dr.Ambedkar Law University may be continued as the agency of the Government for selection and allotment of the candidates to all Government Law Colleges and also for the allotment of candidates for the B.A.,B.L. (Hons.) in the School of Excellence in Tamil Nadu Dr.Ambedkar Law University.

4. The Registrar (i/c), Tamil Nadu Dr.Ambedkar Law University is requested to take necessary further action in the matter.
