ABSTRACT Legal Studies – Part II Schemes for the year 2006-2007 – Construction of building for the Directorate of Legal Studies – Expenditure sanctioned – Revised Orders – Issued. LAW (LU) DEPARTMENT G.O.Ms.No.41 Read: 1. G.O.Ms.No.197, Law (LS) Department, dated 7.9.2006. -- ORDER: The Government order first read above, the Government have sanctioned a sum of Rs.25,83,000/- (Rupees twenty five lakhs and eighty three thousand only) for the construction of building for the Directorate of Legal Studies, by making necessary alterations and renovation in the old hostel building available at the Millers Road, Chennai-10 under Part II Schemes for the year 2006-2007. The expenditure for the above construction for the year 2006-2007 was restricted to Rs.10,33,000/- (Rupees ten lakhs and thirty three thousand only) 2. The Director of Legal Studies in his letter second read above has stated that the Engineers of the Public Works Department inspected the Chennai Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College old Men's hostel building and informed that the said building cannot be repaired and used again and even if it is repaired and used there is every danger of the building falling down and the functioning of the Directorate of Legal Studies in the said building is not safe. He has also stated that the Tamil Nadu Housing Board has also insisted to vacate the premises in which the Directorate of Legal Studies is at present functioning. Hence, the Director of Legal Studies has requested to sanction the entire amount of Rs.25,83,000/- (Rupees twenty five lakhs and eighty three thousand only) sanctioned in the G.O. first read above, so as to enable to construct a new building for the Directorate of Legal Studies in the vacant space of about 2000 Sq.Ft.(32 M x 32M) available in the north western side of the premises of the Chennai Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College Old Men's Hostel as suggested by the Public Works Department by issuing necessary amendments to the orders issued in the said G.O. The Chief Engineer (Buildings), Public Works Department has also recommended for the construction of new building in the premises of the Chennai Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College old Men's Hostel not exceeding the amount of Rs.25.83 lakhs sanctioned in the said G.O. 3. The Government, after careful consideration have decided to accept the request of the Director of Legal Studies. 4. Accordingly, in supersession of the orders issued in the G.O. first read above, the Government sanction a sum of Rs.25,83,000/- (Rupees twenty five lakhs and eighty three thousand only) being non-recurring expenditure towards the construction of new building for the Directorate of Legal Studies in the vacant space of about 2000 Sq.Ft. (32 M x 32M) available in the north western side of the premises of the Chennai Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College old Men's Hostel at Millers Road, Chennai-10 under Part II Schemes for the year 2006-2007. 5. The expenditure sanctioned in para 4 above shall be debited to the following head of account:- "4202 Capital Outlay on Education, Sports, Art and Culture – 01 – General Education – 203 – University and Higher Education – Schemes in the Tenth Five Year Plan II – State Plan – JA Buildings – 16 Major Works (DPC 4202-01-203 JA 1605).". 6, The Director of Legal Studies is directed to take immediate action for the construction of new building in the premises of the Chennai Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College old Men's Hostel building at Millers Road, Chennai-10 mentioned in para 4 above in consultation with the Chief Engineer (Buildings), Public Works Department, with the fund of Rs.10.33 lakhs already provided in Revised Budget Estimate 2006-2007. Balance amount will be provided during 2007-2008 based on requirements. 7. The Chief Engineer (Buildings), Public Works Department is authorised to draw and disburse the amount sanction in para 4 above. 8.
