ORDER:

In the Government Order read above, the Government have ordered the abolition of Common Entrance Test for admission to professional institutions for undergraduate courses from the academic year 2005-2006 to ensure admissions purely on the basis of the marks obtained in the +2 examination and based on the rule of reservation of the State Government and discontinuation of allowing students to take Improvement examinations from the academic year 2005-06 and it has also been stated therein that orders in respect of Law Courses will be issued separately. 

2. After careful consideration, it is directed that admission of students for 3 years and 5 years B.L. degree courses including B.A.B.L.(Hons.) degree course in the Law Colleges in Tamil Nadu based on a Common Entrance Test be abolished from the academic year 2005-06 and it is further directed that a new policy of admission be introduced for admission to 3 years and 5 years B.L. degree courses including B.A., B.L.(Hons.) degree course in the Law Colleges in Tamil Nadu from the academic year 2005-06 to ensure admissions purely on the basis of the marks obtained in the qualifying examinations and based on the rule of reservation of the State Government. The procedure for admission to the above Law Courses is as follows:-

(i) For 5 year B.L. degree Course including B.A.B.L. (Hons.) degree course,-

(a) the percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in the +2 examination in aggregate of all the subjects excluding languages will be taken into account.

(b) in regard to the students who have taken the improvement examination in +2, the marks obtained in the improvement examination will not be taken into account, but the marks obtained by them in the +2 examination as spelt out in item (a) above in their first attempt alone will be taken into account.

(ii) For 3 year B.L. degree course, the percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in aggregate of all the subjects in the qualifying examination excluding languages will be taken into account. If the language alone is the subject in the qualifying examination, then the percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in the said examination shall be taken into account.

4. The following order of priority be followed to determine the rank of such candidates in case two or more candidates obtain equal aggregate marks (tie):

(i) Date of birth (elder to be given preference);

(ii) By lot.

5. The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University shall continue to be the agency of the Government for selection and allotment of candidates to all Law Colleges including the Central Law College, Salem under a single window system of counselling. The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University is requested to take necessary further action in the matter, immediately.
