Abstract

Order :

Taking note of the phenomenal growth of Information Technology/Software Establishments and also the export oriented units, the Central Government and the State Governments have been extending from time to time certain concessions/exemptions from certain enactments with a view to facilitate such industries.  The Government of Tamil Nadu have also been extending such help and facilities for the growth of the said Industry in certain areas.  The attention of the Government was drawn for some time, to bring the above said new Industry under the First Schedule of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 (Central Act XIV of 1947).  The Government have therefore decided to add the Information Technology/Software Establishment / Export Oriented Units in the said Schedule.

2. The following Notification will be published in an Extraordinary Tamil Nadu Government Gazette.  The Works Manager, Government Central Press, Chennai-79 is requested to supply 700 copies of the Extraordinary Government Gazette to this Department.

NOTIFICATION

WHEREAS, the Governor of Tamil Nadu is of the opinion that it is expedient and necessary in the public interest to add the ‘INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY / SOFTWARE ESTABLISHMENTS / EXPORT ORIENTED UNITS’ to the First Schedule to the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 (Central Act XIV of 1947).

NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 40 of the said Act, the Governor of Tamil Nadu hereby adds the “Information Technology / Software Establishments / Export oriented units” to the First Schedule to the said Act.
