  2.   From the Director of Employment and Training Lr.No.: 46817/CT.1/2001-1, dated 4-2-2002 and 13-3-2002.

ORDER :

In G.O.Ms.No.: 11, Labour and Employment dated 7-2-2002, orders have been issued that the trainees be admitted in the private I.T.Is based on the entry level qualification only as prescribed by the Director General of Employment and Training without insisting for marks both in Government and Management quota and the common reservation be followed while admitting trainees in Government quota from 2002 onwards.

2. Government have recently announced that a pass in SSLC is enough for admission in Polytechnics and "removed the minimum marks restrictions in Maths and Science".  The revised entry qualification will come into force from the year 2002 itself.  Owing to the reduced entry qualification in Polytechnics and the increased number of private affiliated I.T.Is, the admission to Government I.T.Is will be affected by reduced demand from the candidates, who will naturally opt for Polytechnics.

3. One of the main objects of Craftsmen Training Scheme is to impart training to the under privileged school educated youth and drop-outs to acquire technical skill for gainful employment.  So in the above scenario it becomes imperative to revise the entry qualification in Government I.T.Is also to the one prescribed in the training manual by the NCVT so that a uniform entry qualification could be adopted in Government I.T.Is as well as the private I.T.Is without any deviation.  Hence, the Director of Employment and Training has now requested that all the Government I.T.Is in Tamil Nadu may be permitted to admit candidates based on the entry level qualification only as prescribed by the Director General of Employment and Training, New Delhi without insisting for marks from August 2002 session.

4. After careful examination of the proposal of Director of Employment and Training, the Government decided to accepts it and accordingly direct that the trainees be admitted in Government I.T.Is based on the entry level qualification only as prescribed by the Director General of Employment and Training, New Delhi without insisting for marks and the common reservation be followed while admitting trainees from August 2002 onwards.
