ABSTRACT

Employment and Training - Training wing - Deletion of five obsolete trades from the purview of National Council for Vocational Training and introduction of 3 trades under State Council for Vocational Training - orders - issued.

ORDER:

In the 34th meeting of the National Council for Vocational Training held on 4th September, 2002,New Delhi, the Council have recommended that the following 5 unpopular trades be deleted from the purview of Craftsmen Training Scheme.

1 ) Photo type setter and Desk Top Publishing Operator

2) Hand weaving of Niwar, Tape Durries

3) Book Binder

4) Pattern Maker

5) Forger and Heat Treater.

2, The Commissioner of Employment and Training in his letter read above has stated that the first 2 trades are not taught in Tamil Nadu. The remaining 3 trades are available in the following Government Industrial Training Institutes;-

1.

Book Binder (1 year)

i) Guindy

ii) Madurai

 

2.

Pattern maker (2 Years)

i) Chennai (North)

ii) Coimbatore

 

3.

Forger and Heat Treater (1 year)

i) Tiruchendur

ii) Madurai

iii) Ambattur

iv) Thanjavur

v) Salem.

 

3. The Commissioner of Employment and Training felt that training be given in the trades mentioned above under State Council for Vocational Training following the same syllabus i.e. already published by the National Council for Vocational Training for these trades. As the Director General of Employment and Training desires that the deletion from National Council for Vocational training should be given effect from August 2003 admission session, candidates are to be admitted in the 3 trades mentioned at para 2 above under State Council for Vocational Training from August 2003. In anticipation of Government Orders, the Commissioner of Employment and Training has taken action to admit candidates in these trades under State Council for Vocational Training from August 2003. The change from National Council for Vocational Training to State Council for Vocational Training does not involve any additional expenditure to Government.

4. The Government after careful examination, accept the above proposal of Commissioner of Employment and Training and ratify his action for introducing the following 3 trades under State Council for Vocational Training from August 2003 admission session in anticipation of approval of the Government.

1) Book Binder ( 1 year)

2) Pattern Maker ( 2 years)

3) Forger and Heat Treater (1 year)
