NOTIFICATION

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section(2) of section 26 of the Minimum Wages Act, 1948 (Central Act XI of 1948), the Governor  of Tamil Nadu hereby directs that subject to the conditions specified in the schedule below, the provision of section 13 of the said Act shall not apply to the Hospital and medical staff, domestic servants, nursery men, watchmen, cattle-keepers, scavengers and sweepers employed in any plantations that is to say, any estate which is maintained for the purpose of growing Cinchona rubber, ten or coffee for a period of 5 years from 10.11.2000 as the previous exemption expired on 9.11.2000.

THE SCHEDULE

( i ) Overtime  payment at twice the ordinary rates of wages shall be paid to the employee for the work done in excess of normal working hours per day; and

( ii )  A notice containing the following particulars shall be sent to the Inspector of Plantations concerned within one week, whenever the exemption hereby granted is availed of:-

(i)  Serial Number

(ii)  Token Number

(iii) Names of employees who are requested to work overtime.

(iv) Designation.

(v)  Normal working hours of employees.

(vi)  Hours of overtime work.

(vii)  Purpose, and

(viii)  Date on which overtime work is done.
