From the Chief Inspector of Factories/Member Secretary, State Level High Power Tripartite Safety Committee, Chennai-6, Letter No.M/906/96, dated 21.2.2001 and even No.dated 26.2.2002, 26.7.2002, 1.8.2002 and 23.10.2002. === O R D E R: The Building and Other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1996 (Central Act 27 of 1996) has been enacted by the Government of India with the objective of regulating the employment of building and other construction workers and for ensuring their safety, occupational health and better service conditions. 2. Based on the above said Central Act, the Central Rules framed in 1998 have been republished in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette, Part III, Section 1(a) Supplement, dated 26.5.1999 vide the G.O.first read above. 3. As per the provisions of the Central Act 27 of 1996, the State Government shall make rules for carrying out the safety and health measures in respect of Building and Other Construction Workers in Tamil Nadu. 4. Accordingly, the Government have decided to frame the Tamil Nadu Building and Other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Rules. The appended Notification shall be published in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette. 5. The Works Manager, Government Central Press, Chennai is requested to publish the Notification in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette and send 100 copies to the Government for reference and record.
