According to Section 28 (1) of the Trade Unions Act, 1926, the period prescribed for the Annual Return is year-ending 31^st day of December; whereas under Regulation 18 of the Tamil Nadu Regulations under the Trade Union Act, 1926, the Annual Return to be furnished shall be submitted to the Registrar before the 30^th day of April in each year. In order to have uniformity both in the Trade Unions Act and Regulations (Rules), the Commissioner of Labour has proposed an amendment to change the date of submission of Annual Return in the Tamil Nadu Regulations under the Trade Unions Act, 1926.

2. The Government examined the proposal of the Commissioner of Labour and accordingly decided to amend the Regulation 18 of the Trade Unions Regulations 1927 as appended in the Notification. The appended notification shall be published in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette. Five copies of the Notification published in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette may be sent both to the Commissioner of Labour, Chennai-6 and to the Government in Labour and Employment (I) Department, Chennai-9, for information and Record.

The following draft of amendment to the Tamil Nadu Trade Unions Regulations, 1927, which it is proposed to make in exercise of the powers conferred by section 29 of the Trade Unions Act, 1926 (Central Act XVI of 1926), is hereby published for information of all persons likely to be affected thereby, as required by sub-sections (1) and (2) of section 30 of the said Act.

2. Notice is hereby given that the draft amendments will be taken into consideration on or after the expiry of three months from the date of publication of this notification in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette and that any objection or suggestion which may be received from any person with respect thereto before the expiry of the period aforesaid will be considered by the Government of Tamil Nadu. Objection or suggestion, if any, should be addressed to the Secretary to Government of Tamil Nadu, Labour and Employment Department, Fort St. George, Chennai-600 009 through the Commissioner of Labour, Chennai-6.

DRAFT AMENDMENT.

In the said Regulation,-

(1) in regulation 18, for the expression "30^th day of April", the expression "31^st day of January" shall be substituted;

(2) in "Form E", (i) in the heading, for the expression "the 31^st March, 19 " ,the expression "the 31^st December 20....." shall be substituted;

(ii) in Part D, in the heading, for the expression " the 31^st day of March 19.......", the expression "the 31^st day of December 20...." shall be substituted
