ORDER :

In the G.O. first read above, a State Level Committee called "The State Tourist Advisory Committee" was constituted to advise the Government on measures needed for rapid development of tourism and tourist centres in the State. The Committee was reconstituted from time to time. In the G.O. second read above issued in 1976, the Committee was continued for a term of two years. The term of this Committee was not, however, renewed thereafter.

2) In January 1986, the Government of India proposed that the State Government may consider the constitution of a Tourism Advisory Board at State Level for promotion of Tourism in the State. Accordingly, in the G.O. third read above, a State Level Committee called ‘The Tamil Nadu Tourism Advisory Committee’ was constituted in November-1988 and reconstituted in the G.O. fourth and fifth read above.

3) The Government have now decided to reconstitute the ‘The Tamil Nadu Tourism Advisory Committee’ with the Hon’ble Minister for Tourism as the Chairman and Secretary, Information & Tourism Department as the Vice Chairman and the following as Members :-

4. The function of the Committee shall be to advise the Government in matters relating to Tourism promotion and development.

5. The term of Office of the Members, shall be for a period of two years from the date of the issue of this Order.

6. The Committee shall be a first class committee for the purpose of journey, travelling and daily allowance to the non-official members.

7. The Commissioner of Tourism, who is the Member Secretary of the Committee, shall countersign the T. A. bills of the non-official members of the Committee.

8. The expenditure of T.A. and D.A. of the Official Members of the Committee shall be debited to the respective head of account to which their pay is debited.

9. The expenditure in respect of non-official members of the Committee shall be debited to the Office Contingencies of the Commissioner of Tourism.

10. This Order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department vide its U. O. No.44716 / Information & Tourism / 2000, dated : 19 – 6 - 2000.
