In order to have more tourists to Tamilnadu, the Tourist Centres are to be developed with infrastructure facilities of high standard and the facilities to be developed to should be long term utility for tourism. The State Government has taken steps to strengthen the existing infrastructure at the tourist destinations and to identify the areas of tourist importance and to develop them with adequate infrastructure for the benefit of tourists. The Commissioner of Tourism has stated that the infrastructure facilities at Arulmigu Prasanna Venkatachalapathi Thirukoil Gunaseelam in Thiruchirapalli District are inadequate.

2.The Commissioner of Tourism has therefore sent a proposal with detailed estimates in consultation with the Collector, Thiruchirapalli District for providing infrastructural facilities i.e., construction of Gents and Ladies toilets Arulmigu Prasanna Venkatachalapathi Thirukoil Gunaseelam in Thiruchirapalli at a cost of Rs.5.00 lakhs. He has also stated that out of the total estimated cost of Rs.5.00 lakhs, 75% i.e., Rs.3.75 lakhs would be met by the Temple authorities and he has reaquested the Government to sanction a sum of Rs 1.25 lakhs being the 25% of the estimated cost from State fund.

3.The proposal of the Commissioner of Tourism have been examined in detail. After careful examination the Government accept the request of the Commissioner of Tourism and accord sanction a sum of Rs.1.25 lakhs (Rupees one lakh and twenty five thousand only) for provision of infrastructural facilities at Arulmigu Prasanna Venkatachalapathi Thirukoil, Gunaseelam in Thiruchirapalli Distrrict as detailed in the project proposal.

4. Sanction is accorded for the payment of Rs.1.25 lakhs (Rupees one lakh and twenty five thousand only) to the Commissioner of Tourism and he is authorized to draw the amount and place it at the disposal of the Collector of Thiruchirappalli under proper of acknowledgement. The amount sanctioned shall be debited to the following head of account:-

"3452-Tourism -01-Tourist Insfrastructure-101 Tourist

Centres-Schemes in Tenth Five Year Plan- VI Scheme shared

between State and Centre-UM – Providing basic amenities

in Tourist Centres-09- Grants-in-Aid – 03-Grants

for specific scheme." (DPC No.3452 01 101 UM 0938)

5. The Collector of Thiruchirappalli District shall bear the balance amount i.e., Rs.3.75 lakhs from the temple fund. The Executive Agency shall be the District Collector, Thiruchirappalli. The District Collector, Thiruchirappalli will send a monthly progress report of the work to the Commissioner of Tourism, Chennai.2. He shall also furnish Utilisation Certificate / Completion Certificate to the Commissioner of Tourism. The Commissioner of Tourism is requested to watch the progress of works, get report from the District Collector and send the report to Government periodically.

6.. This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department vide its U.O.No.11398/I&T /2004, Dated 26.02.2004.
