ORDER:-

1. A proposal at an estimated cost of Rs.450.70 lakhs for the development of the places associated with the visit of Sri Adi Sankara was sent by the Commissioner of Tourism to Government. The proposal was duly recommended by the Government and forwarded to Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, New Delhi for according sanction.

2. The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, has conveyed the

Sanction of Rs.443.00 lakhs for the development of Sri Adi Sankara Tourist Circuit covering Mangadu, Tirvotriyur, Chidambaram, Mayiladuthurai, Kumbakonam, Tiruchirapalli, Tiruchendur and released a sum of Rs.354.40 lakhs being 80% of the total cost of the projects. The Commissioner of Tourism stated that the amount received from Government of India has been remitted into State Government account.

3. The Commissioner of Tourism has therefore requested the Government to approve the Scheme for development of Adi Sankara Tourist Circuit at a cost of Rs.443 lakhs and to sanction the first instalment of Rs.354.40 lakhs (80%) released by Government of India to the District Collectors concerned to commence the work.

4. Government have carefully examined the proposal of Commissioner of

Tourism and have decided to accept it. Accordingly the Government of India assisted Scheme of development of Adi Sankara Tourist Circuit in Tamil Nadu covering

Mangadu, Thiruvotriyur, Chidambaram, Myladuthurai, Kumbakonam, Tiruchirapalli and Tiruchendur at a cost of Rs.443 lakhs is duly approved by Government. The Components of the Scheme are detailed below:-

5. Sanction is also accorded for a sum of Rs.354.40 lakhs (Rupees three hundred and fifty four lakhs and forty thousand only) released by Government of India as first instalment to the Collectors concerned for the implementation of this Scheme subject to the usual following terms and conditions stipulated by Government of India in Ministry of Tourism, Government of India sanction No.5-PSW/97/2004, dated 3.5.2002.

6 The expenditure shall be debited to the following head of account:-

“3452 Tourism 01 Tourist Infrastructure 101 Tourist centre SP construction of way side facilities 09 Grants in Aid 01 grants for current expenditure (DPC.No.3452 01 101 SP 0916)

7. The Commissioner of Tourism is authorized to draw and disburse the amount sanctioned in para 5 above and disburse it to the Collectors concerned to commence the work.

8. Necessary Funds will be provided in RE/FMA 2005-2006. The Commissioner of Tourism is requested to send necessary proposal to Government, Finance Department for the provision of funds in the Revised Estimate/FMA for 2005 – 2006 at the appropriate time without fail. The Commissioner of Tourism is also requested to watch the progress of this work and send periodical report to Government. The Commissioner of Tourism is further requested to get utilization certificate from the concerned authorities and send it to Government of India for the release of the balance amount.

The Commissioner of Tourism is requested to fix time schedule for Execution of work before disbursement to the executing agency.

This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department vide its U.O. No. 90833/I&T/05, dated 29.12.2005 and ASL.No.1312.
