Government of Tamil Nadu ABSTRACT Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board - Valmiki Ambedkar Housing Programme - Upgradation of 1050 Shelter units at a total cost of Rs.210.00 lakhs during 2003-2004 Administrative Approval - Orders Issued. From the Managing Director, TNSCB Lr.No.Q1/14493/03 dt 11.08.2003 - - - ORDER: The Government of India in the letter first read above have commnunicated the state-wise allocation for the VAMBAY Housing programme for the year 2003-2004. The guidelines of VAMBAY programme envisages upgradation of the existing shelter units with Government of India grant and beneficiary contribution. 2.Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board has been implementing the work of construction of individual shelter units and repairs and renewal works for the slum tenements constructed by Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board. 3. The Managing Director, Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board has sent a proposal in the letter second read above to take up upgradation proposals under VAMBAY Phase-II during the year 2003-2004 which envisages improvements to the existing shelter units by way of replacement of existing roof, construction of additional room, etc., at a total cost of Rs.210.00 lakhs. This programme will be funded as follows. Project Cost : Rs.210.00 lakhs No. of houses : 1050 Nos. Government of India grant : Rs.105.00 lakhs Beneficiary contribution : Rs.105.00 lakhs 4. The beneficiaries will be selected in such a way that they are not benefited any of the schemes of VAMBAY and the works will be commenced after collecting 50% of the cost from the beneficiaries. The amount so collected will be deposited in the VAMBAY account to avail equivalent grant from Government of India. This programme does not require any Government Budgetary support. 5. The Government after careful consideration, approve the proposal of Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board to provide additional improvements for the existing shelter units by way of replacement of roof, construction of additional room, etc., at a total cost of Rs.210.00 lakhs for 1050 units. The funding pattern as reported in the previous para should be adopted. 6.
