ORDER:

In the G.O. read above, the Government prescribed a format to apply for allotment of fancy/advance registration numbers for motor vehicles to the Government by the owners of the vehicles. The Government have also prescribed certain guidelines in the said G.O. for consideration of the applications. Further, in the said G.O., the Government also permitted the owners of the vehicles to send application for extension of time within a week from the date of expiry, if the vehicle owner is unable to utilize the numbers within the period of two months from the date of issue of orders by the Government, subject to the condition that such application will be entertained only after payment of the fee meant for fancy/advance registration number at the respective Regional Transport Office and the original receipt for payment of fee should be enclosed along with the application.

2) Now, the Government have reviewed the system of allotment of fancy/advance registration to the motor vehicles by the Government in the light of the need for speedy processing and in supersession of the guidelines prescribed in the G.O. read above issue the following revised guidelines for strict observance of the applicants who seek fancy/advance registration numbers for their motor vehicles from the Government :-

i) The application for allotment of fancy/advance registration numbers should be made in the prescribed revised format. A model form of revised format is appended to this order.

ii) The applicant should enclose a Xerox copy of the invoice for the purchase of vehicle along with the application. Otherwise, the application will not be considered for allotment of number.

iii) The applicant must indicate the engine number and the chassis number of the motor vehicle purchased, for which fancy/advance registration number is requested for allotment from Government.

iv) Renewal of orders of allotment of fancy/advance registration number in case of non-utilisation within two months will not be entertained under any circumstances. In such cases, the Regional Transport Office concerned shall intimate the fact to Government in Home (Transport.VI) Department immediately, so as to enable the Government to allot the same number to other applicants, if requested for.

v) The allotment order shall be despatched promptly by post.

3) The Government direct that Registering Authorities shall arrange for the supply of the revised format of application to the needy applicants and arrange for information to the owners of the vehicles who opt for fancy/advance registration number from the Government for the vehicles. Necessary visible notice board shall be displayed in the Regional Transport Office/Unit Office concerned for the information of the public.

4) The revised format and the above guidelines shall be enforced with effect from 15.5.2007.
