ORDER:

Government in the letter first read above have issued clarification regarding the candidates who underwent lasik/Laser eye surgery be declared as “unfit” to police service.  The Director General of Police has sent necessary draft amendments to the Special Rules for Tamil Nadu Police Subordinate Service.  Accordingly the following Notification will be published in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette.

NOTIFICATION  

In exercise of powers conferred by  section 8 and 10 of the Tamil Nadu District Police Act, 1859 (Central Act XXIV of 1859) and sections 9 and 11 of the Chennai  City Police Act, 1888 (Tamil Nadu Act  III of 1888) read with the proviso to Article 309 of the Constitution of India,  the Governor of Tamil Nadu hereby makes the following amendment to the Special Rules for the Tamil Nadu Police Subordinate Service (Section 34 of the Tamil Nadu  Services Manual-volume  III).

2. The amendment hereby made shall be deemed to have come into force (with effect from 28.10.2005) on the 28th October 2005.

AMENDMENT

In the said Special Rules, in Annexure II, in column (3), against the entry, 

“Any class and Category  Direct recruitment”  in column (1), after item (iii), the following item shall be added, namely:-

“ (iv) Lasik/Laser Surgery/Excimer Laser Surgery underwent by the candidate is either of the eye shall be deemed to be a disqualification”.
