ORDER

A sum of Rs.4.20 crores allocated in the Revised Budget for the year 2006-2007 towards the payment of compensation to the victims of road accidents under the Chief Minister’s Accident Relief Fund has been sanctioned in the G.O 3rd  read above. 

2. The Transport Commissioner in his letter 4th read above,  has stated that the over all requirement of funds under the Chief Minister’s Accident Relief Fund by the District Collectors for the current financial year is Rs.6,01,20,000/- taking note of the unspent balance as on 1.4.2006. The allotment under Accident Relief fund for the District collectors was restricted to Rs.4.20 crores in Revised Budget 2006-2007. The District Collectors have sought for additional funds to the tune of Rs.1.82 crores. Hence, taking into account of the required additional funds of Rs.1.82 crores, a total amount of Rs.6.02 crores has been proposed in Revised Estimate 2006-2007. He has also pointed out that a sum of Rs. 7 crores was sanctioned towards Chief Minister’s Accident Relief Fund for the previous financial year 2005-2006, and the allotment now required for the current financial year 2006-2007 is Rs.6.02 crores only. The Transport Commissioner, has therefore,   requested    the     Government to   sanction  additional   funds       of Rs.1.82 crores for the Chief Minister’s Accident Relief Scheme in addition to the amount of Rs.4.20 crores  already allotted for the said scheme in Revised Budget for the year 2006-2007.

3.  The Government after   careful   examination   sanction     a   sum of Rs. 1.82 crores (Rupees One crore and eighty two lakhs only) towards accident Relief fund. 

4 Necessary funds will be provided in R.E / FMA  2006-2007. Pending provision of funds, the Transport Commissioner is authorized to incur the expenditure. 

5.The expenditure  sanctioned in para (3) above shall be debited under the following head of account  “2235 Social Security and Welfare 02 Social Welfare 800 other  expenditure  I Non - Plan  AI  Payment  of  cash  relief   to Traffic   Accident victim-51 compensation- 02 other compensations”

6. The Transport Commissioner is also requested to include the expenditure while sending this proposal for RE/ FMA 2006-07 to the Government in Finance Department  without fail. 

7. This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department vide its U.O.No.33/ D.S(GM)/Home I /07-1 dated  23.1.2007 with Additional Sanction Ledger No.1430 (One thousand four hundred and thirty )
