In the Government Order Second read above, orders have been issued for amending certain provisions of the Special Rules for the Tamil Nadu Police Subordinate Service  relating to direct recruits to the post of Sub-Inspectors and  Police Constables, Grade II among other things, based upon the orders issued in the Government Order first read above.  The Director General of Police, Chennai in his letter 3rd read above has brought to the notice of Government that while issuing amendments in the Government Order 2nd read above, possession of minimum chest measurement for selection of candidates to the posts  of Grade II Police Constables (Men) and Sub-Inspectors (Men) has not been correctly speltout.  He has therefore requested to issue necessary amendments to the Special Rules for the Tamil Nadu Police Subordinate Service.  Accordingly, the following Notification will be published in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette:-

NOTIFICATION

In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 8 and 10 of the Tamil Nadu District Police Act, 1859 (Central Act XXIV of 1859), and sections 9 and 11 of the Chennai City Police Act, 1888 (Tamil Nadu Act III of 1888) read with the proviso to Article 309 of the Constitution of India, the Governor of Tamil Nadu hereby makes the following amendments to the Special Rules for the Tamil Nadu Police Subordinate Service (Section 34 in Volume III of the Tamil Nadu Services Manual, 1986).

3. The amendments hereby made shall be deemed to have come into force on the 18th January 2002.

Amendments

In the said Rules, in Annexure II, -

(1) for the entry in sub-item (iii) of item (1) in column (3) against the entry. “ Category 2 Sub-Inspectors  of Police, Category-2A  Sub-Inspectors of Police (Finger Print) (Men and women) in colum (1),  the following entry shall be substituted, namely:- 

“In respect of male candidates, the chest measurement must not be less than 81 centimetre on normal condition(on expiration) and must not be less than 86 centimetres round the chest on full inspiration with a minimum chest expansion of 5 centimetres.  There shall be no such chest measurement for female candidates”.,

(2) for the entry in sub-item (iii) of item (1) in column (3), against the entry “category 5 Reserve  Sub-Inspectors (Men and Women) “ in column(1), the following entry shall be substituted, namely:-

“ In respect of male candidates, the chest    measurement    must not be less than 81 centimetres on normal condition (on expiration) and must not be less than 86 centimetres round the chest on full  inspiration with a minimum chest expansion   of 5 centimetres.  There shall be no such chest measurement for female candidates”;  and

(3) for the entry in clause (6) to sub-item (i) of item (1) in column (3), against the entrycategory 7 constables (Men and Women) ( Other than Band Constables,  Office of the Director General of Police ) and Reserve Constables” in column (1), the following entry shall be substituted, namely:- 

“In respect of male candidates, the chest measurement must not be less than 81 centimetres on normal condition (on expiration) and must not be less than 86 centimetres round the chest on full inspiration with a minimum chest expansion of 5 centimetres”.
