The Government of Tamil Nadu in their G.Os third, fourth and seventh read above have so far sanctioned an aggregate of Rs. 55.5996 crores as expenditure towards provision of infrastructure for the High Court Bench at Madurai as detailed below:
3) It has been proposed that the inaugural function of the High Court Bench at Madurai be held on 13.4.2004 i.e. Tamil New Year's day. It has therefore become incumbent to complete the construction of buildings and provision of infrastructure well in time. It has become crucial to monitor the progress of the works and to sort out impediments if any. Minister (Law, Information Technology and Electricity) and Minister (Public Works Department) have opined to form a committee to review the progress of work in respect of High Court Bench at Madurai on weekly basis till completion of the works in all aspects. 4) Accordingly the Government direct that a committee comprising the following officers be constituted to review the progress of works relating to construction of buildings for the High Court Bench at Madurai and provision of amenities therein on weekly basis. i) Chief Engineer (Buildings), Chennai - 5. ii) Registrar (Management) High Court, Chennai - 104 iii) Thiru. Ramachandran, Special Chief Engineer (Planning and Designs Circle) Public Works Department, Chennai-5 iv) Thiru. Ramarajan, Superintending Engineer, Madurai. v) Thiru A.S. Dharmaraj, Deputy Secretary to Government, Home Department, Chennai - 9.
5) The Committee, shall be treated as a First Class Committee for all purposes and the Members of the Committee shall be paid Travelling Allowance and Dearness Allowance according to the grade to which they are entitled from time to time and the expenditure shall be debited to the head of account under which their pay and allowances are drawn. 6) This order issues with the concurrence of the Finance Department vide its U.O.No. 682/FS/P/04 dated 27.2.2004.
