Rt.No.405 dated 03/03/2003. 2) From the Transport Commissioner, Chennai, D.O. letter No.86689/D1/2003 dated: 13/1/2004. ---- ORDER:- The Transport Commissioner, Chennai has stated that the payment of annual tax in respect of non-transport vehicles such as Motor Cycles, Scooters, Jeeps, Motor Cars, etc. for the year 2004-2005 is due for collection from 1/4/2004 onwards. A large number of non-transport vehicle owners are expected to pay the motor vehicle tax during this tax season. The condition of the buildings that house the City Regional Transport Offices is not conducive to receive large number of tax payers and with a view to avoiding hardship to them, the Transport Commissioner, Chennai has therefore, sent a proposal to the Government seeking orders for opening of additional counters at certain centers under the jurisdiction of Regional Transport Offices in addition to the existing tax collection counters in the Regional Transport Offices of Chennai city for collection of motor vehicles tax for the year 2004-2005 as was done in the earlier years at Chennai. He has also requested permission to allow the payment of tax from 26/3/2004 to 10/4/2004 between 10.00 a.m. and 1.30 p.m. on all working days including Saturdays except Sundays and the Government declared holiday on 9/4/2004 (Good Friday). 2) The Government accepts the proposal of the Transport Commissioner, Chennai. They accordingly direct the Transport Commissioner, Chennai that tax collection counters at the premises as mentioned in the annexure to this order, be opened temporarily for a period from 26/3/2004 to 10/4/2004 between 10.00 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. on all working days including Saturdays except Sundays and the Government declared holiday on 09/04/2004 (Good Friday) for the collection of annual tax in respect of non-transport viz. Two wheelers, Cars, Jeeps, Vans, etc., for the year 2004-2005. 3) The Transport Commissioner, Chennai is requested to take necessary action to issue press release through dailies, radio and television of this arrangements in the interest of public through the Information and Public Relation department and send a compliance report to Government.
