O R D E R :

In the letter read above, the Director General of Police has stated that the 6 member team of the Tamil Nadu Police took part in the 13th Asian Masters Athletics Championship held in Bangkok from 01.12.2004 to 05.12.2004. The Police Team won 10 Medals as indicated below :

This is the Highest Medal tally of the Tamil Nadu Police Team in an International Athletic Championship. He has, therefore, requested the Government to sanction the necessary prize money as eligible to the Athletes of Tamil Nadu Police Team.

2. The Government have issued orders for sanction of cash awards in the following scale for the sports persons of the Police Department who have won medals in the National competition in G.O. Ms. No.1087, Home, dated 7.9.2004 :-

For Gold Medallist

Rs.50,000/-

(ii)

For Silver Medallist

Rs.30,000/-

(iii)

For Bronze Medallist

Rs.20,000/-

 

3. The Government, after due consideration of the proposal of the Director General of Police, have decided to sanction cash awards to Tamil Nadu Police Team who have won the medals in the International Athletic Championship held at Bangkok from 1.12.2004 to 5.12.2004 according to G.O.Ms.No.1087, Home, dated 7.9.2004 as indicated below as a special case :-

4. Accordingly, the Government sanction a sum of Rs.2,70,000/- (Rupees two lakh and seventy thousand only) as cash awards to the Police Team as detailed in paragraph 3 above for having won the medals in the 13th Asian Masters Athletic Championship held at Bangkok.

5. The expenditure sanctioned in paragraph 4 above shall be debited to "2055 – 00 – Police – 001 – Direction and Administration – I Non Plan – AA – Director General of Police – 59 – Prizes and Awards (DPC 2055 00 001 AA 5904).

6. Necessary funds will be provided in the RE/FMA 2004-2005. Pending of provision of funds, the Director General of Police, Chennai-4 is authorised to draw and disburse the amount sanctioned in paragraph 4 above to the police personnel / officials detailed in paragraph 3 above. Pending provision of funds in RE/FMA, 2004-2005, the Pay and Accounts Officer (East), Chennai-5 is directed to admit and honour the bills when presented by the Director General of Police, Chennai-4, if it is found otherwise in order.

7. The Director General of Police, Chennai-4 is requested to include this item of expenditure in the RE/FMA 2004-2005 while sending proposal to Government in Finance Department without fail.

8. This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department vide its U.O.No.86800/Finance (Home.I)/2004-1, dated 26.12.2004 and Additional Sanction Ledger No.1232.
