Abstract

Police – 48th All India Police Duty Meet held at Dergaon in Assam from 14th to 18th December, 2004 – Sanction of cash awards to the Police personnel / officials for having won the Medals and Trophies – Orders – Issued.

O R D E R :

In the letter read above, the Director General of Police has stated that the 48th All India Police Duty Meet was held at Dergaon (Assam) from 14th to 18th December 2004. In the Meet, 21 states, 8 Central Police Organizations and 1 UT participated in six events (Scientific Aids to Investigation (SAI), Computer Awareness, Dog Squad, Anti Sabotage Check, Videography and Professional Photography). In the Meet, the Tamil Nadu Police contingent has bagged the maximum number of medals (11) comprising two Gold Medals (SAI and Computer), 4 Silver medals (Computers & SAI) and 5 Bronze medals (Professional Photography, Videography and SAI). The Tamil Nadu Police contingent has also bagged the highest number of Trophies - Two Winners Trophies (Scientific Aids to investigation and Computer Awareness) and one Runners Up Trophy (Scientific Aids to Investigation). Tamil Nadu Police contingent also stands first in the total tally of marks, with a score of 3488.97.

2. He has further reported that as per G.O (MS) No.1087 Home (Police VII) Department, dated 07.09.2004, the Government has fixed the quantum of cash reward as follows:-

1. Gold Medalist - Rs.50,000/-

2. Silver Medalist - Rs.30,000/-

3. Bronze Medalist - Rs.20,000/-

(i) The Director General of Police has, therefore, requested the Government to sanction of cash awards to the medal winners as per the above norms to the following police personnel and officials :-

(ii) The Director General of Police has further stated that the Tamil Nadu Police contingent has also won the following Trophies. Amount equivalent to Gold Medalist may be sanctioned to the personnel who have won the Winners Trophy and equivalent to Silver Medal may be sanctioned to personnel who have won Runners Up Trophy. He has requested cash awards to the following police personnel :-

(iii) He has further stated that the Tamil Nadu contingent has also won the over all highest marks in the meet. He has requested that cash award may be sanctioned to the following officers who are responsible for the organization of the Tamil Nadu Contingent.

3. The Director General of Police has, therefore, requested the Government to sanction the Cash Awards for a sum of Rs.10,70,000/- as detailed in paragraph 2 above, pending provision of funds in the FMA 2004 -2005 to the Police Personnel / Officials for having won the medals and Trophies in the 48th All India Duty Meet.

4. After careful examination, the Government sanction a sum of Rs.10,70,000/- (Rupees ten lakh and seventy thousand only) as Cash Awards to the Police Personnel / Officials as detailed in paragraph 2 above for having won the medals and Trophies in the 48th All India Duty Meet held at Dergaon in Assam from 14th to 18th December, 2004.

5. The expenditure sanctioned in paragraph 4 above shall be debited to "2055 – 00 – Police – 001 – Direction and Administration – I Non Plan – AA – Director General of Police – 59 – Prizes and Awards (DPC No.2055 00 001 AA 5906).

6. Necessary funds will be provided in the RE/FMA 2004-2005. Pending of provision of funds, the Director General of Police, Chennai-4 is authorised to draw and disburse the amount sanctioned in paragraph 4 above to the police personnel / officials detailed in paragraph 2 above. Pending provision of funds in RE/FMA, 2004-2005, the Pay and Accounts Officer (East), Chennai-5 is directed to admit and honour the bills when presented by the Director General of Police, Chennai-4, if it is otherwise in order.

7. The Director General of Police, Chennai-4 is requested to include this item of expenditure in the RE/FMA 2004-2005 while sending proposal to Government in Finance Department.

8. This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department vide its U.O.No.86368/Finance(Home.I)/2004-1dated 23.12.2004 and Additional Sanction Ledger No.1222.
