G.O.Ms.No.1311 Dated : 24.11.2004. Read : From the Director General of Police, Chennai-4, Lr. Rc. No.218243/Medal.I (2)/2004, dated 16.11.2004. O R D E R : In the letter read above, the Director General of Police has stated that the Tamil Nadu State Police Rugby Team participated along with 16 other Teams in the All India Rugby Foot Ball Tournament held at Bhubaneshwar, Orissa State between 5.11.2004 and 7.11.2004. In the league matches, Tamil Nadu Police beat Orissa Panthers and Chattisgarh and lost to C.C.F.C. (Calcutta Cricket & Foot Ball Club). In the Semi-Finals, Tamil Nadu Police beat Kolkatta Police. In the Finals, however, Tamil Nadu Police lost to the Indian Army Team and secured the Runners up in the Plate Championship of the All India Rugby Foot Ball Tournament. It is noteworthy to mention that the Tamil Nadu Police Rugby Foot Ball Team, which was formed only on 15.02.2003, has fared extremely well in this National-level Tournament. He has recommended for sanction of Rs.30,000/- to the members of the Team and the Coach participated in the All India Rugby Foot Ball Tournament and secured the Runners up in the Plate Championship held at Bhubaneshwar, Orissa State as detailed below :
The Director General of Police has, therefore, requested the Government to sanction the cash awards for a sum of Rs.3,30,000/- over and above the BE 2004 – 2005 pending provision of funds in RE 2004-2005 to the members and coach of the Team as detailed above. 2. In G.O.Ms.No.1087, Home (Pol.-VII) Department, Dated:07-09-04, Government have issued orders for sanction of Cash Awards in the following scale for the Sports persons of the Police Department, who have won medals:(i) For Gold Medal Winners Rs.50,000/- (ii) For Silver Medal Winners Rs.30,000/- (iii) For Bronze Medal Winners Rs.20,000/- 3. After careful examination, the Government sanction a sum of Rs.3,30,000/- (Rupees Three lakhs and thirty thousand only) as cash awards to the Police personnel and the coach participated in the All India Rugby Foot Ball Tournament held at Bhubaneshwar, Orissa State between 5.11.2004 and 7.11.2004 for securing Runners up in the Plate Championship as follows :

The expenditure sanctioned in para 3 above shall be debited under the head of account "2055-00-Police-001-Direction and Administration–I-Non-Plan –AA–Director General of Police, 59 Prizes and Awards (DPC 2055 00 001 AA 5906). 5. Necessary funds will be provided in RE/FMA 2004-2005. Pending provision of funds in RE/FMA 2004-2005, the Pay and Accounts Officer (East), Chennai, is directed to admit and honour the bill as and when presented by the Director General of Police, if it is found otherwise in order. 6. The Director General of Police is requested to include this expenditure while sending the proposal for RE/FMA for the year 2004-2005 to Government in Finance Department without fail. 7. The Director General of Police is also authorised to draw and disburse the Cash Awards sanctioned above to the aforesaid police personnel and the Coach of the Tamil Nadu State Police Rugby Team. 8. This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department vide its U.O.No.79347/Home.I/2004, Dated: 24.11.2004 and Additional Sanction Ledger No.1006. ( BY ORDER OF THE GOVERNOR )
