ORDER:

The Hon'ble Chief Minister took up a review on the action taken  on the various announcements made during Governor's speech, Chief Minister's Review, Budget speech and while moving the demand of Highways Department for 2001 by Minister (Public Works).  After detailed deleberations, it has been decided among others to constitute a screening committee to study the feasibility or otherwise of commercially viable projects from out of the shelf of projects prepared for upgradation of roads and reconstruction/restoration of distgressed bridges.  It has also been decided that the committee would consist of Secretary, Highways, Special Secretary, Finance, Special Secretary, Industries, Chief Engineer(General), Highways and Chief Executive Officer, Tamil Nadu Road Development Company.

2. The Government accordingly direct that the Screening Committee be constituted with the following officials:-

i) Secretary to Government, Highways Department                          .. Chairman

ii) Special Secretary to Government, Industries Department              .. Member

iii) Special Secretary to Government, Finance Department                .. Member

iv) Chief Executive Officer, Tamil Nadu Road Development Company  .. Member

v) Chief Engineer(General), Highways Department                            .. Member-Convener

3. The Screening Committee shall meet once in two months and identify viable shelf of projects to leverage funds from the market.
