Weavers Cooperative Societies – Tamilnadu Cooperative Handloom Weavers Savings and Security Scheme – Enhancement of Insurance coverage from Rs.35,000/- to Rs.40,000/- Orders Issued.

ORDER:

In the Government Order first read above, the Government sanctioned the implementation of the Insurance linked Savings and Security Scheme for the benefit of Handloom Weavers who are enrolled as Members of Weavers Cooperative Societies in the State. The scheme was extended from time to time. In the Government Order fourth read above, the insurance cover in favour of each weaver was raised from Rs.25,000/- to Rs.35,000/-

2.While moving the Budget for the year 1999-2000, the Hon’ble Chief Minister has announced, among others, that the insurance amount payable to the legal heirs of the handloom weavers who die before attaining the age of 60 years will be increased to Rs.40,000/- in the next financial year (i.e.1999 – 2000

3.The Government therefore direct that the insurance amount payable to the legal heirs of each of handloom weavers who are the Members of the Weavers’ Cooperative Societies who die before attaining the age of Sixty, be enhanced from Rs.35,000/- to rs.40,000/- (Rs.Fourty thousand only). This order shall come into effect from 01.04.1999. All other terms and conditions of the scheme vide Government Orders read above shall continue to be applied.

4.This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department vide its U.O.Note No.27359/Ind.II/99, Dated 12.04.1999.
