Handloom Industry – Tamilnadu Cooperative Handloom Weavers’ Savings and Security Scheme – Enhancement of Pension to the weaver members from Rs.150/- to Rs.200/- per month – Orders – Issued.

ORDER:

The Tamilnadu Cooperative Handloom Weavers Savings and Security Scheme is one of the schemes, being implemented for the benefit of handloom weavers in Tamilnadu. A weaver enrolled in this scheme is contributing 8 paise (eight paise) for every rupee of wages earned by him. The State Government and Government of India are contributing 4 paise each (four paise each) per rupee of wages earned. The contribution of members are being remitted into the Government Treasury by the Weavers Cooperative Societies which earns 12% interest from the State Government.

2.In the Government Order read above, the Government have ordered that the weaver members of the Tamilnadu Cooperative Societies who are contributing to the Tamilnadu Cooperative Handloom Weavers’ Savings and Security Scheme shall be eligible to receive a sum of Rs.150/- (Rs.One hundred and fifty only) per month as pension from the date of super annuation viz. after attaining the age of 60 years.

3.While presenting the Budget for the year 2000-2001 the Hon’ble Chief Minister announced, among their things, that the pension amount payable to the weaver members who are contributing to the Tamilnadu Cooperative Handloom Weavers’ Savings and Security Scheme will be increased from Rs.150/- to Rs.200/- (Rs.Two Hundred only) per month.

4.The Government accordingly direct that the pension amount payable to the weaver members of the Tamilnadu Weavers Cooperative Societies who are contributing to the Tamilnadu Cooperative Handloom Weavers’ Savings and Security Scheme to enhanced from 150/- per month to Rs.200/- per month with effect from 01.04.2000. All other terms and conditions of the scheme mentioned in the Government Order read above shall continue to be applied.

5.This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department vide its U.O.Note No.135/DS(B)/2000 dated 18.04.2000
