Weavers Cooperative Societies – Tamilnadu Cooperative Handloom Weavers Savings and Security Scheme – Enhancement of Insurance coverage from Rs.40,000/- to Rs.50,000/- Orders Issued.

ORDER:

In the Government Order first read above, the Government sanctioned the implementation of the Insurance linked Savings and Security Scheme for the benefit of Handloom Weavers who are enrolled as Members of Weavers Cooperative Societies in the State. The scheme was extended from time to time. In the Government Order fifth read above, the insurance cover in favour of each weaver was raised from Rs.35,000/- to Rs.40,000/-

2.While moving the Budget for the year 2000 – 2001, the Hon’ble Chief Minister has announced, among others, that the insurance amount payable to the legal heir of the handloom weavers who die before attaining the age of 60 years will be increased to Rs.50,000/- in the next financial year (i.e. 2000 – 2001).

3.The Government accordingly direct that the insurance amount payable to the legal heirs of the handloom weavers who are the members of the Weavers Cooperative Societies and whi die before attaining the age of 60, be enhanced from Rs.40,000/- to Rs.50,000/- (Rs.Fifty thousand only). This order shall come into effect from 01.04.2000. All other terms and conditions of the scheme mentioned in the Government Orders read above shall continue to be applied.

4.This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department vide its U.O.Note No.133/DS(B)/2000, Dated 18.04.2000.
