From the Commissioner of Handlooms & Textiles, Chennai D.O.Lr.No.999 / 2002 / P1 dt 2.6.2003 and 5.6.2003. ----- ORDER: In the G.O. first read above, orders were issued to the effect that a new scheme of “ Low cost Sarees and Dhoties Scheme be implemented to give alternative employment to handloom weavers and 35 lakh sarees and 14 lakh dhoties under the Low Cost Sarees and Dhoties Scheme be produced for the year 2002-2003 by Co-optex and to sell the same through Fair Price Shops and Co-optex Showrooms, Government Departments / Government Undertakings, other Government Institutions and the public at the rate of Rs.40/- per saree and Rs.30/- per dhothy. 2. In her D.O. letter second read above, the Commissioner of Handlooms & Textiles, Chennai has sent proposals to Government for fixing the procurement rates for sarees and dhoties under erstwhile Free Distribution Scheme for 2002 and for sarees, dhoties and salwar kameez set under Low Cost Sarees and Dhoties Scheme for 2002-03 and also for fixing the selling price of sarees and dhoties and salwar kameez set under Low Cost Sarees and Dhoties Scheme as follows :-
3. The Government, after careful consideration, fix the following procurement rates for sarees and dhoties under erstwhile Free Distribution Scheme for 2002 and for sarees, dhoties and Salwar kameez set under Low Cost Sarees and Dhoties Scheme for 2002-2003.
4. The Government also fix the following selling price for Sarees, Dhoties and Salwar Kameez set under Low Cost Sarees and Dhoties Scheme for 2002-2003.
5. The procurement and selling price fixed in para 3 and 4 above shall cover only the following items. a. Procurement and Selling rate for the already procured Polycot sarees and dhoties. b. Procurement and Selling price for salwar-kameez. c. Procurement rates for the already procured and sold handloom cotton sarees and dhoties for the year 2002 and 2003. d. Procurement rates for the already procured and sold powerloom dhoties for the year 2002. e. Procurement rates for the already procured and distributed (O.A.P ) Powerloom Sarees for the year 2002. 7. This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department vide its. U.O. No. 2546 / Private Secretary / P / 03 dated 31.07.2003. (BY ORDER OF THE GOVERNOR) A.
