ORDER: The Director of Indian Medicine & Homoeopathy, Arignar Anna Government Hospital Campus, Chennai-106 has stated that the average number of patients opting for Siddha System of Medicine in Varumun Kappom Thittam Camps is around 128 per camp. The percentage of patient who prefer for treatment under Siddha has been on the rise from 15 to 18 percent. This shows that Siddha System is very popular in the Varumun Kappom Thittam Camps in almost all the Districts. He further added that, earlier the Government have allotted a sum of Rs.800/- per camp for dispensing the Siddha Medicines and the model kit of Siddha Medicines was approved with 10 medicines for Varumun Kappom Thittam Camps. In this regard, a committee with 3 Siddha Specialists have been set up to go through the Morbidity Reports of Varumun Kappom Thittam and suggested measures to improve the number of beneficiaries under Siddha. The Committee in its report has identified and recommended the following 8 additional medicines to be included in the revised model kit of Siddha Medicines apart from the present 10 Medicines:-
In view of the above position, he has requested the Government to approve the revised model kit of Siddha Medicines and to allot sufficient funds by increasing the present grant from Rs.800/- to Rs.1000/- per camp so that the number of patients under Siddha System will improve gradually. 2. The Government have examined the request of Director of Indian Medicine & Homoeopathy and decided to accept his request. Accordingly, they approve the revised model kit and also order that the present allotment of Rs.800/- now made for supply of Siddha Medicines in each health camp be enhanced to Rs.1000/- (One thousand only) to meet the additional expenditure to be incurred by way of supplying 8 (eight) new additional medicines mentioned at para 1 above. 3. The above increase of expenditure from Rs.800/- to Rs1000/- per camp for supply of 8 new additional Siddha Medicines shall be met out of the funds of Rs.7500/- for drugs already earmarked for each camp.
