ORDER: WHEREAS the Director of Public Health and Preventive Medicine in his letter first read above has sent proposals, among other things, with reference to Section 16 of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Smoking and Spitting Act 2002 (Tamil Nadu Act 4 of 2003) authorising certain Police Officers for the purpose of compounding of offences punishable by or under the Said Act. The Government after careful consideration have hereby accepted the said proposal of the Director of Public Health and Preventive Medicine. 2) NOW THEREFORE under Section 16 of the said Act, the Governor of Tamil Nadu hereby authorizes the Police Officers not below the rank of Sub-Inspector of Police for the purpose of compounding of offences punishable by or under the said Act.
