ABSTRACT

National Programme for Control of Blindness - Implementation of various schemes and allocation of funds - Strengthening of Eye Care Infrastructure during 2002-2003 - Provision of IOL facility at 4 District Headquarters Hospitals with commodity assistance from Government of India - Administrative sanction - Orders Issued.

1. From the Government of India, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, New Delhi letter Z. 15011/1/2002/Ophth/BC, dated 17.5.2002.

2. From the Director of Medical and Rural Health Services Letter No. 50582/P&DIII/2/2002, dated 12.12.2002.

3. From the Project Director, (in charge), Tamil Nadu State Blindness Control Society Letter No. 18/ Soc1/2002, dated 16.12.2002.

ORDER

In the letter first read above, Government of India allocated funds and fixed targets among others, for provision of IOL facility at 4 District Headquarters Hospitals during 2002-2003 under National Programme for Control of Blindness. Towards provision of IOL facility at District Headquarters Hospitals, Government of India shall provide Commodity assistance to the tune of Rs. 20.00 lakhs.

2. Director of Medical and Rural Health Services has submitted necessary proposals. Accordingly Government direct that IOL facility be provided in the following Medical Institutions during 2002-2003 National Programme for Control of Blindness.

1. Government District Headquarters Hospital, Ramanathapuram.

2. Government District Headquarters Hospital, Tiruvarur

3. Government District Headquarters Hospital, Nagercoil

4. Government District Headquarters Hospital, Dharmapuri.

3. The Project Director (in charge), Tamil Nadu State Blindness Control Society is requested to take necessary action to get commodity assistance from Government of India for the provision of ILO facility in the above Medical Institutions well before the closure of the financial year 2002-2003 under National Programme for Control of Blindness in consultation with Director of Medical and Rural Health Services.

4. The Director of Medical and Rural Health Services is requested to take necessary steps to achieve performance targets fixed for non-teaching Medical Institutions under National Programme Control of Blindness during 2002-2003.
