2. From the Project Director, in charge, Tamil Nadu State Blindness Control Society Letter No. 18/ Soc1/2002, dated 16.12.2002.

ORDER

In the letter first read above, Government of India allocated funds and fixed targets among others, for strengthening of one Medical College (Ophthalmology Department) in Tamil Nadu during 2002-2003 under National Programme for Control of Blindness. Towards the above Government of India shall provide Commodity assistance to the tune of Rs. 25.00 lakhs.

2. The Project Director, ( in charge), Tamil Nadu State Blindness Control Society has recommended the proposal submitted by Director of Medical Education for strengthening of Ophthalmology Department in Annal Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital, Trichy. Accordingly Government direct that Ophthalmology Department in Annal Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital, Trichy be strengthened with commodity assistance from Government of India under National Programme for Control of Blindness during 2002-2003.

3. The Project Director, ( in charge), Tamil Nadu State Blindness Control Society is requested to take necessary action to get commodity assistance from Government of India towards strengthening of Ophthalmology Department in Annal Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital, Trichy well before closure of the financial year 2002-2003 in consultation with Director of Medical Education.

4. The Director of Medical Education is requested to take necessary steps to achieve performance targets fixed for teaching Medical Institutions under National Programme for Control of Blindness during 2002-2003.
