ORDER:

In the Government Order read above, the Government have ordered for the collection of Rs.5/- for issue of OP tickets to patients on their visit to the Super-speciality Departments of the Medical College Hospitals towards maintenance of records and data for the patients. The amount realized by way of collection of Rs.5/-(Rupees five only) from the patients was ordered to be credited to the Hospital Maintenance Fund. The funds were to be used for providing better facilities to the Hospitals.

2. The poor patients who used to avail treatment in Super-Speciality Departments of the Medical College Hospitals have requested the Government to stop the collection of fee of Rs.5/- for OP tickets.

3. The Government have carefully examined the request received from the public. Taking into consideration of the welfare of the poor patients who utilize the Government medical facilities. Government have decided to rescind the orders issued in the Government order read above. Accordingly Government direct that the orders issued in GO.Ms.No.318, Health dt. 30.11.2001 for collecting a fee of Rs.5/- for issue of OP tickets from the patients for availing treatment in Super-Speciality Department of Medical College Hospitals be rescinded with immediate effect. Hereafter fees for issue of OP tickets shall not be collected in any of the Government Hospitals.

4. However the Government will provide funds for the maintenance of the Hospitals, patients amenities etc.,

5. The Director of Medical Education and Director of Medical and Rural Health Services are requested to issue suitable instructions to the Deans/Hospital Superintendents/Medical Officers  to adhere the above orders with immediate effect.
