ABSTRACT

Collection of Visitors Fee from Visitors attending the Government Medical College Hospital, attached institutions of Medical Colleges and District Headquarters Hospitals during non-visiting hours – withdrawn – Orders issued.

1.G.O.(Ms) No.317 Health dt, 30.11.2001

ORDER:

In the Government Order read above, the Government issued orders for the collection of a fee of Rs.5/- per visitor from visitors visiting the Government Medical College Hospitals, attached institutions of the Medical Colleges and District Headquarters Hospitals during non-visiting hours from 30.11.2001. The amount realized by way of collection of Rs.5/-(Rupees Five only) from the patients was ordered to be credited to the Hospital Maintenance Fund. The Funds were to be used for providing better facilities to the Hospitals.

2. The poor patients who used to visit the hospitals have requested the Government to stop the collection of visitors fee from the visitors visiting the Government Medical College Hospitals attached institutions of Medical Colleges and District Head Quarters Hospitals during the non-visiting hours.

3. The Government have carefully examined the request received from the public. Taking into consideration of the welfare of the poor patients who utilize the Government medical facilities. Government have decided to rescind the orders issued in the Government order read above. Accordingly Government direct that the orders issued in GO.Ms.No.317, Health dt. 30.11.2001 for collecting a fee of Rs.5/- from visitors visiting the Government and District Head Quarters Hospitals during non-visiting hours, be rescinded with immediate effect.

4. However the Government will provide funds for the maintenance of the Hospitals, patients amenities etc.,

5. The Director of Medical Education and Director of Medical and Rural Health Services are requested to issue instructions to the Deans and Hospital Superintendents  to adhere the above orders with immediate effect.
