ORDER:
The Director of Medical Education in his letter first read above, has suggested for the upgradation of Department of Paediatrics in Madurai Medical College and Government Rajaji Hospital, Madurai as Institute of Child Health and Research Centre to improve the quality of services to sick children and to upgrade the teaching and training of undergraduate and post graduate students. He has also stated that the above upgradation do not involve any extra expenditure to Government.
2. The Government carefully examined the above proposal of the Director of Medical Education and decided to accept it. They accordingly order for the upgradation of the Department of Paediatrics in Madurai Medical College and Government Rajaji Hospital, Madurai as "Institute of Child Health and Research Centre" without any extra expenditure to Government subject to the conditions that the treatment now enjoyed by the public should not be disturbed on any account and that the same facilities now enjoyed by the public should be made permanent.
3. This order issues with the concurrence of the Finance Department vide its U.O.No.114/ADS/2003-1, Dt.13.06.2003.
