GOVERNMENT OF TAMIL NADU ABSTRACT Public Health Placing two Ambulances among two NGOs for undertaking emergency Obstetric Service Permission Granted Orders Issued. Health and Family Welfare (P 2) Department

*** ORDER: In G.O.Ms.No.106, Health, dated 7-6-2002, the Government interalia sanctioned Rs.95.00 lakhs towards the purchase of 20 Vehicles (Ambulances) for running 20 Mobile Health Services under PMGY 2002-2003 at the rate of Rs.4.75 lakhs per vehicle. 2. As there was a balance amount after the purchase of 20 Ambulances, the Government in their Lr.No.12909/P2/2003-2, Health, dated 28-3-2003, permitted the Director of Public Health and Preventive Medicine to purchase five more Ambulances at the DGS &D rate contract within the balance amount. The Director of Public Health and Preventive Medicine was also requested to ensure that the vehicles to be purchased are allotted to those Primary Health Centres where their old vehicles have been condemned and that no new appointment of driver should be made. 3. Now the Director of Public Health and Preventive Medicine has stated that out of five Ambulances purchased, two Ambulances have been allotted to Deputy Director (HS), Dharmapuri with a request to make them functional by tying up with the following two NGOs:- i) Tribal Health Initiative for Sitti Lingi Valley (D) ii) SEARCH for Karimangalam Block. Hence he has requested the Government to grant him permission to place the two Ambulances one for Tribal Health Initiative NGO and another for "Search" NGO for undertaking emergency obstetric service in the Tribal Sitti lingi Valley and Karimangalam block subject to the certain conditions. 4. The Government, after careful examination, accept the request of the Director of Public Health and Preventive Medicine. Accordingly Government permit the Director of Public Health and Preventive Medicine to place the two Ambulances one for Tribal Health Initiative NGO and another for Search NGO for undertaking emergency obstetric service in the Tribal Sitti lingi Valley and Karimangalam block subject to the following conditions:- 1. The vehicles will be in the name of the Deputy Director of Health Services, Dharmapuri. 2. Fuel cost, maintenance cost and driver salary will be borne by the NGO concerned. 3. Monthly performance report should be submitted to the Deputy Director of Health Services, Dharmapuri. 4. The NGOs are permitted to charge Rs.5/- per KM of travel from the patients. The service should be free to the poor. This is left to the discretion of the NGO concerned. 5. If the services of NGO are not satisfactory the Ambulance shall be with-drawn without any notice.
