Abstract Public Health - Primary Health Centres - Upgradation of Primary Health Centres at Alwarthirunagari and Karungulam in Thoothukudi District into 30 bedded Hospitals - Sanctioned - Orders - issued. Health and Family Welfare (P.2) Department G.O.Ms.No.108 Dated: 22.5.2003 Read:
*** ORDER: It is the policy of the Government that one Primary Health
Centre in each block shall be upgraded into that of 30 bedded Hospital with
specialised Doctor, X-Ray facilities and Operation Theatre in a phased manner.
There are 385 blocks in Tamil Nadu. Many of them have medical institutions with
more than 30 beds and other advanced medicare facilities or have easy
accessibility to Medical College Hospitals, District Hospitals, Taluk Hospitals
and Non Taluk Hospitals. Excluding these blocks, 2. The Director of Public Health and Preventive Medicine has now submitted proposals for the upgradation of two Primary Health Centres, one at Alwarthirunagari in Alwarthirunagari Block and the other at Karungulam in Karungulam Block in Thoothukudi District at a total cost of Rs.137.20 lakhs. (Recurring cost Rs.27.70 lakhs and non-recurring cost Rs.109.50 lakhs). 3. The Government have examined the proposal of the Director of Public Health and Preventive Medicine. The non-recurring cost of Rs.109.50 lakhs involves the following items of expenditure.
The recurring component of expenditure which mainly relates to staff and other items may be considered after the building construction is over. Therefore, the Government have decided to upgrade the Primary Health Centres at Alwarthirunagari of Alwarthirunagari Block and Karungulam of Karungulam Block in Thoothukudi District into 30 bedded Hospitals at a total cost of Rs.109.50 lakhs. 4. Accordingly, the Government pass the following orders:-

6. Necessary funds will be provided in Revised Estimate / Final Modified Appropriation 2003-04 inrespect of 21 M V - 01. Purchase. 7. The Chief Engineer (Buildings), Public Works Department is requested to take necessary action for the construction of 30 bedded Ward, Operation Theatre, X-Ray Room as per the type design approved in the case of 58 Primary Health Centres for which orders have already been issued. 8. The Director of Public Health and Preventive Medicine is requested to submit proposals for sanction of recurring expenditure, after the construction of building is over. 9.
