ABSTRACT

National Programme for Control of Blindness - Implementation of various schemes and allocation of funds - Strengthening of Eye Care Infrastructure during 2002-2003 - Establishment of Eye Bank at Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College Hospital, Salem with commodity assistance from Government of India - Administrative sanction - Orders Issued.

1. From the Government of India, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, New Delhi letter Z. 18011/1/2002/Ophth/BC, dated 17.5.2002.

2. From the Project Director,( in charge), Tamil Nadu State Blindness Control Society Letter No. 18/ Soc1/2002, dated 5.12.2002.

ORDER

In the letter first read above, Government of India allocated funds and fixed targets among others, for establishment of an Eye Bank during 2002-2003 under National Programme for Control of Blindness. Towards the above Eye Bank, Government of India shall provide Commodity assistance to the tune of Rs. 5.00 lakhs.

2. The Project Director,(in charge), Tamil Nadu State Blindness Control Society has forwarded the proposal of Director of Medical Education for establishment of an Eye Bank at Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College Hospital, Salem and requested orders of Government. Accordingly Government direct that an Eye Bank be established at Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College Hospital, Salem with commodity assistance from Government of India under National Programme for Control of Blindness during 2002-2003.

3. The Project Director, ( in charge), Tamil Nadu State Blindness Control Society is requested to take necessary action for early release of commodity assistance from Government of India towards establishment of above Eye Bank well before the closure of the financial year 2002-2003 under National Programme for Control of Blindness in consultation with Director of Medical Education.

4. The Director of Medical Education is requested to take necessary steps for establishment of the above Eye Bank and to achieve performance targets fixed under National Programme for Control of Blindness during 2002-2003.
