ALLOWANCES - AIR TRAVEL – Air Travel by the Hon’ble Ministers/   State Government  Officials working in Government Departments / Undertakings / Public Sector Undertakings / Boards to foreign countries in all Private airlines in addition to Indian/Air India - Permission – Orders – Issued.

ORDER:

In the Government order first  read above orders were issued permitting Hon’ble Ministers and Senior Officials of the State Government to undertake travel by airlines services other than Indian (formerly Indian airlines) within the Country subject to entitlement, permission of Competent  authority, convenience of timings of airlines services etc,.

2) In the letter second read above Government of India has decided that permission be granted  for availing airlines other than Air India in respect of official visits outside the country, provided the criteria for selecting the alternative airline are based on better  and more competitive prices.

3) As the Government of India permits their officials to travel by all private airlines, this  Government has also decided to follow  the procedures adopted by the Government of India. Accordingly, Government permit the Hon’ble Ministers/ Senior officials of this Government to travel in private air lines other than Indian/Air India also in respect of official visits out side the country. The following aspects shall be taken into account for Overseas travel on official account by private airlines other than Air India.

i) Competitive rates when compared to the rates charged by Air India.

ii) Availability of immediate connection facilities

iii) Convenience of Flight timings.

4) Necessary amendments to the Tamil Nadu Travelling Allowance   Rules 2005 will be issued separately.

5) Legislative Assembly Secretariat shall  amend the Tamil Nadu Ministers Travelling Allowance Rules accordingly.
