Tamil Nadu Government Employees Health Fund Scheme 1991 – Restriction of claims for availing assistance under the scheme in respect of treatment/surgery relating to other than Cancer and ceiling of Rs.30000/- and two occasions for eye surgeries removed – Orders Issued

ORDER :

The Government in the order first read above had constituted the Government Employees Health Fund to provide a   measure of relief to the Government Employees when they are struck by major ailments.

2.In the Government order second read above, orders have been issued enhancing the financial assistance under the scheme from Rs.50,000/- to Rs.1,00,000/-  or 75% of the actual cost of specialised advanced surgery/treatment whichever is less.

3.In the Government letter third read above,   it has been instructed that claims for treatment for cancer be admitted any number of times within the overall ceiling of Rs.1.00 lakh with the recommendations of the Director of Medical Education/Director of Medical and Rural Health Services.

4.In the Government order fourth read above, orders have been issued fixing the maximum limit for sanction of financial assistance in respect of specialised advanced eye surgery for both   the eyes under the scheme at Rs.30,000/- or 75% of the actual cost whichever is less.

5.In the Government letter fifth read above, it has been clarified that employees who have already availed the first chance of financial assistance under Tamil Nadu Government Employees Health Fund Scheme shall be permitted to avail financial assistance again upto the remaining balance of the maximum eligible amount of Rs.1,00,000/- subject to other rules and regulations of the scheme.

6.In the reference sixth read above,  the Director of Medical Education has opined that on account of the existing restriction on number of claims to two in respect of claims relating to treatment /surgery other than cancer, Government servants are deprived of availing assistance further to the  available unutilised amount out of the maximum ceiling and suggested that the restriction on number of claims to two under the scheme be removed and claims be allowed upto the maximum eligible ceiling of Rs.1,00,000/- (Rupees one lakh only)  without restriction on occasions as is being allowed in the case of treatment of cancer.

7. The Government after careful consideration of the proposal of the Director of Medical Education,  direct that the claims under the Tamil Nadu Government Employees Health Fund Scheme be permitted any number of times without restriction on the number of occasions within the overall ceiling of Rs.1,00,000/- in respect of  75% of the cost of all eligible treatments/surgeries  as is being allowed  in the case of treatment/surgery in respect of cancer, subject to fulfilment of all other conditions governing the scheme.

8.The Government also hereby order that the ceiling of Rs.30,000/- and the restriction of number of occasions of advanced specialised eye surgeries to two stipulated in the Government order fourth read above be removed.

9.There shall be no change in other existing rules and conditions governing the scheme.

10.These orders shall take effect from the date of issue of this Government order.
