Tamil Nadu Government Employees Health Fund Scheme, 1991 – Assistance for claims relating to accidents – Orders – Issued. FINANCE (SALARIES) DEPARTMENT G.O.Ms.No.19 Viya, Thai 4, Read:- 1) G.O.Ms.No.18, Finance (Allowances) department, dated 9-1-1992 2) G.O.Ms.No.236, Finance (Salaries) department, dated 30-3-1995 3) Government Letter No.95928 / Salaries / 99-1, dated 10-1-2000 ***** ORDER: The Government in the order first read above constituted a fund called “Tamil Nadu Government Employees Health Fund Scheme” to provide a measure of relief to Government employees affected by major ailments. 2. As per the orders issued in the Government Order second read above, a maximum grant of Rs.1,00,000 or 75% of expenses incurred towards actual cost of specialized advance surgery / treatment whichever is less is sanctioned as grant under the Tamil Nadu Government Employees Health Fund Scheme. 3. In the Government Letter third read above, among others, it has been instructed that surgeries / treatments approved under the scheme but caused due to accidents are ineligible for availing assistance under the scheme. 4. Based on the requests being received for sanction of assistance for treatments included in the approved lists but treatment taken due to accidents, it has been decided that due consideration has to be given in such cases. 5. In the case of accidents the treatment is undergone in extreme emergent conditions. It will also be difficult in such circumstances to select an accredited hospital. Huge expenditure on treatment is forced upon the Government employees in such cases. Government after careful examination, has decided to extend the assistance under the Tamil Nadu Government Employees Health Fund Scheme for treatment / surgery necessitated due to accidents also. It is hereby directed that sanction of assistance in respect of treatment / surgery eligible for assistance under the Tamil Nadu Government Employees Health Fund Scheme but caused due to accidents be allowed 100% reimbursement of expenses incurred towards, the actual cost of treatment / surgery subject to the maximum ceiling of Rs.1,00,000/- irrespective of the status of the hospitals i.e. whether accredited under the Scheme or not subject to fulfillment of all other conditions governing the scheme. It shall be ensured that no compensation had been availed under the Motor Vehicles Act and that assistance has not been availed under any accident insurance coverage 8.
