Order:

Tamil Nadu has been battered by unprecedented floods following four spells of heavy rains during the last two months resulting in loss of life and extensive damage to property and infrastructure. Normal life in the 22 affected districts has been completely disrupted with people losing their livelihood. Thousands of habitations have been marooned and lakhs rendered homeless. The damage to public infrastructure, especially roads, bridges, irrigation tanks etc, has been extensive.2) Hon'ble Chief Minister has appealed through the Press inviting contributions to CMPRF from all public spirited citizens, companies and corporates, non-governmental organizations and philanthropists for comprehensive relief and rehabilitation work launched by Government of Tamil Nadu.

3) As was done for Tsunami Relief, the Government authorise the following banks to receive the contributions from the donors who are non-resident Indians in foreign currency and transfer them to CMPRF:-

(i) State Bank of India

(ii) Indian Overseas Bank

(iii) I C I C I Bank

4) The above three banks are authorised to receive contributions to CMPRF and to credit the proceeds in Indian rupees to CMPRF account maintained by Indian Overseas Bank, Secretariat Branch, Chennai 600 009. Procedure for remittance is as below:-

(i) The donor can remit the contribution in US$ currency or in Indian Rupees.

(ii) The donor should indicate that the ultimate destination is the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund through the Savings Bank Account No.70 of Indian Overseas Bank, Secretariat Branch, Chennai 600 009, India

(iii) Indications regarding Receiver's correspondent bank. Beneficiary Bank, SWIFT Account Number and code will have to be furnished in instructions to their bankers. The donors can choose any one of the three banks mentioned above for remitting their contributions to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund. Particulars to be mentioned depending upon the banks chosen from the list above are given in para 5.

(iv) For receiving an official receipt from the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund, donors may kindly mention their address in their remittance instructions.

5) State Bank of India, Indian Overseas Bank and ICICI Bank have requested that the following particulars may be furnished while giving payment instructions by the donors:--

All Public spirited citizens and organisations abroad and non-resident Indians living overseas are invited to participate in this enormous task of rehabilitating thousands of people affected in Tamil Nadu by the unprecedented floods by sending in their generous contributions to the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund (CMPRF). These donations will be utilised for relief and rehabilitation of the flood affected victims under the guidance of the Hon'ble Chief Minister, Government of Tamil Nadu.
