ORDER:

The Government  have passed an Act called Tamil Nadu  Essential Services Maintenance Act, 2002 on 1.10.2002.  The Act provides for strike enforcement of discipline among certain essential services and to provide for matter connected thereon.  In this connection, certain Trade Unions of Tamil Nadu Electricity Board  intended to go on strike for redressal of their grievances.   This is likely to jeopardize the supply of Electricity.  The Government  decided to prohibit strike in the services connected with the supply of Electricity.           

2. According to Section 3(1) of the said Act the following Notification shall be published in an Extraordinary issue of Tamil Nadu  Government  Gazette, dated.23.10.2002 prohibiting strike in the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board .

NOTIFICATION

Whereas the Government  are satisfied that in the public interest and in the interest of the public order, it is necessary to prohibit strike in the services connected with the supply of electricity, from the date of publication of this Notification in the Tamil Nadu  Government  Gazette.

Now therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) read with sub-section (2) of section 3 of the Tamil Nadu  Essential Services Maintenance Act, 2002 (Tamil Nadu  Act 36 of 2002), the governor of Tamil Nadu  hereby prohibits strike in the services connected with the supply of electricity, from the date of publication of this Notification in the Tamil Nadu  Government  Gazette.
