Abstract

ORDER:-
The Chairman and Managing Director, Tamil Nadu Energy Development Agency has proposed to take up electrification of 150 nos. of remote habitations trough solar photovoltaic devices which are not connected with the grid. The cost of electrification for each habitation is Rs. 10 lakhs and Ministry of Non-Conventional Energy Sources, Government of India will provide upto 50% of the cost as Central Financial Assistance and the balance cost is to be borne by the State Government. The Chairman and Managing Director, Tamil Nadu Energy Development Agency has requested the Government to sanction the proposal at a total cost of Rs. 15.00 Crores with State Government's share of Rs.7.50 Crores as Subsidy subject to sanction of the balance amount of Rs. 7.50 Crores as Central Financial Assistance by Ministry of Non-Conventional Energy Sources, Government of India.
2.The Government after careful examination, accept the proposal of Chairman and Managing Director, Tamil Nadu Energy Development Agency and accord sanction for the scheme of electrification of 150 numbers of remote habitations not connected with the grid using SPV devices, at a total cost of Rs.15 Crores subject to sharing of the cost as given in para 1 above including 20 numbers of remote habitations sanctioned at a cost of Rs. 100 lakhs as per G.O. read above. Since this scheme is essentially a rural electrification project, the Chairman and Managing Director, Tamil Nadu Energy Development Agency is instructed to apply to NABARD under RIDF-IX or REC for Rs. 7.50 Crores for this scheme to meet the share of Government contribution for the scheme. The additional budget provision towards State's share will be made in Revised Estimate/ Final Modified Appropriation 2003-04 after approval of the scheme by Ministry of Non-Conventional Energy Sources, Government of India and getting the State Government contribution sanctioned as loan from REC or NABARD.
3. The Chairman and Managing Director, Tamil Nadu Energy Development Agency is also instructed to send necessary proposals to Ministry of Non-Conventional Energy Sources for sanction of Central Financial Assistance for the scheme. He is further instructed to send necessary proposal for additional amount of Rs. 6.50 Crores as State Government's share separately as per para (2) above.
4.This Order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department vide its U.O.No.4096/Finance Department (PW.II) / 2003-1 dated 21.7.03.
