G.O.Ms.No.345, Environment & Forests Department, dt. 8.8.1997 ----------- ORDER: In the G.O.first read above, orders were issued amending the Tamil Nadu Timber Transit Rules, 1968 exempting the Silver oak trees from the purview of Tamil Nadu Timber Transit Rules, 1968. 2) During the Collectors Conference held on 11.12.02, the necessity to prevent indiscriminate felling of Silver oak trees was discussed in detail and it was decided to bring the silver oak tree within the ambit of Tamil Nadu Timber Transit Rules, 1968. 3) The Principal Chief Conservator of Forests on consultation in his letter second read above has stated that
4) The Principal Chief Conservator of Forests has therefore requested to include Silver Oak trees in the purview of Tamil Nadu Timber Transit Rules, 1968, considering the need for preventing of indiscriminate felling of silver oak tree. 5) After examination it was decided to delete silver oak tree in the classes of trees exempted from the purview of Tamil Nadu Timber Transit Rules, 1968 by way of amending the said Rules. 6) The Notification appended to this order will be published in the Extraordinary issue of Tamil Nadu Government Gazette six copies of the notification are sent to the Tamil Development(Translation) Department. That department is requested to send Tamil version of the notification to the Government Central Press for Publication. On receipt of Tamil version the Works Manager, Government Central Press is requested to publish the Tamil version of the notification in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette. :: FORWARDED :: BY ORDER :: SECTION OFFICER APPENDIX NOTIFICATION In exercise of the powers conferred by section 35 of the Tamil Nadu Forest Act, 1882 (Tamil Nadu Act V of 1882), the Governor of Tamil Nadu hereby makes the following amendments to the Tamil Nadu Timber Transit Rules, 1968. AMENDMENT In the said Rules -- , (1) in rule (1), for the expression " Definition.--", the expression "2. Definition.--" shall be substituted; (2) in " 2. Definition.--" as so substituted, in clause (3), sub-clause (n) shall be omitted; (3) for the expression "2. Conditions of transit of timber.--", the expression "2-A.
